Are you interested in being involved in decisions about using anonymised patient data for health research?
Get involved – We are seeking scientific and clinical experts to join our expert review committees (ERC) that provide advice to the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) on applications requesting access and use of anonymised patient data for public health research.
CPRD is a government real-world research service that is delivered by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), with support from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), as part of the Department of Health and Social Care.
CPRD data is used by medicines regulators, the NHS, health related charities, academic researchers, and pharmaceutical companies.
All research applications are reviewed under the CPRD Research Data Governance (RDG) process which evaluates research for feasibility, public health benefits and risks and potential information governance risks. Our ERC Chairs and Members are key contributors to this review process.
We are seeking to appoint one Chair and five Members to the CPRD RDG process. We are interested in hearing from applicants with expertise in the following areas:
- General Practice
- Statistics and epidemiology
- Data science, modelling, and machine learning
- Clinical Medicine - secondary care and other specialties
- Public health policy and economics research, especially health outcomes research.
Chairs and Members serve an initial term of 2 years with the ability to serve for a total of 4 years. The workload of an ERC Member is about 2 research protocols per month.
ERC Chairs and Members contribute to the CPRD RDG process on a voluntary basis only.
Virtual Working
All application reviews are conducted virtually on CPRD’s electronic Research Applications platform. Quarterly CAC meetings are held remotely as standard.
