University of Oxford fertility treatment outcomes study

CPRD is facilitating the study of the Prolonged Effects of Assisted reproductive technologies on the health of women and their children: a Record Linkage study for England (PEARL).

Dr Claire Carson, based at the National Perinatal Epidemiology in the Nuffield Department of Population Health at the University of Oxford, is leading on important research into the use of fertility treatment (IVF), including analysis of follow up information regarding the health of both the mother and the child.

CPRD is facilitating linkage of records of fertility treatment with primary and secondary care data as well as death registration information, so that Dr Carson’s research team is better able to assess possible health outcomes, particularly health or developmental problems, from the use of these technologies.
